Important fasts and festivals in the month of Sawan include: Kamika Ekadashi, which falls on July 13, Masik Shivaratri, which falls on July 15, Shravan Amavasya, which falls on July 17, Hariyali Teej, which falls on August 19, Nag Panchami, which falls on August 21, and Raksha Bandhan, which falls on August 30.

The Shiv Puran (scripture) states that the following things should never be presented to Lord Shiva:

– Ketaki flower

– Tulsi leaves

– Turmeric

– Water from a conch shell

– Kumkum (vermilion)

– Broken rice grains

Chanting the Shiva mantra on Sawan Mondays is beneficial. Here are a few mantras:

– Om Namah Shivaya

– Om Shankaraya Namah

– Om Maheshwaraya Namah

– Om Rudraya Namah

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra:

“ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्।उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्॥”
